Description

HCL, an $8.3 billion global IT conglomerate, has always been a patron of India's classical arts. Led by the vision of Shiv Nadar, founder and chairman of HCL, the organization has taken several steps over the last two decades to preserve and promote the classical arts. One such initiative is the restoration of the Kamakshi Amman temple in Kanchipu...ram under the guidance of the Shankaracharya. Inspired by the rich history of the temple, Temples of Kanchipuram offers a glimpse into the heritage of Kanchipuram, housed in its temples. Nicknamed the Land of a Thousand Temples, Kanchipuram holds a special place as a hub of ancient Hindu architecture, and the history captured within its walls is worth treasuring. The combined labour of Chithra Madhavan, photographer Ami Gupta and the Restoration Project Team breathes new life into the structures, touching on history, rituals, architecture, and inscriptions, and brings to attention the architectural beauty and purpose of these temples.
