Role Overview
This is an entry-level position, ideal for someone eager to begin a career in publishing. The Publishing Assistant will support multiple departments, working closely with editors, the marketing and publicity team, and directly with authors. The role requires enthusiasm, attention to detail, creativity, and a willingness to dive into a variety of tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Support

  • Assist editors with manuscript handling, proofreading, and copyediting.
  • Conduct background research and prepare briefs for projects.
  • Help produce and coordinate book projects—for example, supporting cookbook shoots, liaising with designers and photographers, and managing logistics.
  • Coordinate with freelancers (designers, copyeditors, proof readers, illustrators) to ensure timely follow-ups and smooth workflow.
 

Marketing & Publicity

  • Draft and proofread press releases, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Support in planning and executing book launches, author events, and literary festivals.
  • Liaise with media outlets, book reviewers, and event organizers.
  • Track publicity coverage and maintain marketing databases.
 

Author Care

  • Act as a point of contact for authors, ensuring smooth communication and timely updates.
  • Assist with author logistics for events, festivals, and media opportunities.
  • Coordinate the delivery of author copies and promotional material.
