I.N.A. & Its Netaji by the late Shah Nawaz Khan is a valuable first-hand account by a commissioned officer of the Indian Army, who joined Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army to fight for India’s freedom. His insider’s impressions have been source material for several historians. In 1945-46, he became famous after being accused of treason in a court martial by the British, found guilty, but being set free because of pressure from the Indian public and within the Indian Army. He thereafter headed the first Indian government instituted inquiry into Netaji’s death, which confirmed his passing after a plane crash in Taipei; before becoming a minister in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s government.”
