Insurgency and the Artist: The Art of the Freedom Struggle in India is a gloriously illustrated work
that offers a narrative history of the freedom struggle and the rich interplay of text and images is designed to offer insights that neither conventional histories nor images can offer in isolation.
On Wednesday, 14th December, at Vadehra Art Gallery, we celebrated the release of Dr. Vinay Lal’s book. Neelam Narula, Managing Editor of Roli Books introduced the speakers. Professor Simi Malhotra, HoD, English, Jamia Milia Islamia, moderated the talk while also unveiling the reversible jacket with a poster of “Kalpataru: The Freedom Tree”. Dr. Vinay Lal presented a slideshow of images from the book that fascinated him the most. The talk was followed by Professor Amar Farooqui, Department of History, Delhi University, where he had a chapter wise discussion on the book. The evening came to an end after the reception where Dr. Lal signed his books for the audience.
