  Tishani Doshi was born in Chennai, India, in 1975. She received her master’s in writing from Johns Hopkins University. At the age of 26, an encounter with the choreographer Chandralekha led her to an unexpected career in dance. She is the author of Countries of the Body, Everything Begins Elsewhere, and The Pleasure Seekers.
