In 2019 before the world had any idea of the COVID pandemic, I launched on a journey of epic proportions – to shoot and document the vast interior of India from the sky.
Madhya Pradesh From Above was to be a never before seen perspective of India. Her monuments, vast landscapes, bustling cities and people from high in the air. I chose Madhya Pradesh because it represents the very best of what India has to offer in terms of tourist sights. In order to do a volume such as this I had to partner with the Madhya Pradesh government due to the extraordinary level of permissions required to fly and shoot with drones. Permissions were sought from the DGCA, AAI, ASI, State Archeology, the forest department and the local administration.
In the middle of the project, the government changed in Madhya Pradesh and the world came to a standstill. The project was half shot and as India began to open up, I hit the road, covering vast distances.
Three years from conception, Madhya Pradesh From Above is now available for the world to see. Mr. Richard Holkar’s introduction adds another layer of depth to the book, and I hope to soon shoot other areas of India from the sky.
